Bailando

I haven’t reported on my dancing lately ….. but I have been dancing! My foot is still killing me, but ice and ibuprofen help a lot! It’s taken me awhile to find my confidence …. lots of floor time, and frequenting the same places helps a great deal. People are essentially the same everywhere and it takes awhile for the locals to warm up and recognize you, but I’ve been patient and it’s paying off! I have not been to every Milonga in BsAs …. there are just too many …. but I do manage to check out new places regularly, and to listen to other people’s recommendations and comments. A few weeks ago I was at Torquato Tasso in San Telmo, a really cozy Milonga and the orchestra was fabulous … for me it is always a treat to have the privilege to dance to live music and the dancing there was very good. Last night I saw an orchestra that plays the music of Juan D’Arienzo, WOW! Four bandoneones in perfect sync, they were fabulous! And last week I went to a performance by a women in my yoga class. She sings a Fado/Tango mix and was so great with three acoustic guitars and percussion amazing! I think I might have been the only extranjera there. I still manage to get to Salsa once a week, it’s a nice diversion and so much fun, don’t want to lose those skills either. I feel a little like I am in a dream … last night while I was being lead around the dance floor with my eyes closed I could here the music, the people and the ‘pop’ of champagne corks …. will life ever be the same, doubt it!
