Pecado reserva 2010 Torrontés, I seem to like the aromatic whites and I think this might qualify, the aroma of roses, and a lot like a Chardonnay, I think anyway. I’ll just have to try a few more!

My first bottle of Malbec, not my first glass, however! I tried the Torrontés by this same maker at home so thought I’d give the Malbec a shot. It’s very good, has nice body and not too tannic with a great finish. I contacted Nico, the man I met at Tango class with the travel company in Mendoza, this week and hope to get there at the end of April. He said right now is harvest and they are very busy, can hardly wait to go!

The $25 peso bottles have been really good, so how does the $50 peso bottle taste? ¡Muy Bien! There is a difference, smoother in the mouth, more balanced, fuller, rounder …. just more everything and better all around! I will try a few more in this price range before I go up in price, but the difference from $5 to $10 Canadian is noticeable, at least in this bottle.

Ohhhhhh this one is nice! Malbec Bonarda blend, I’ve never had this before but will certainly explore this combo a bit more, also in the $50 peso range. It is so soft and smooth in the mouth, oak, spice, ripe red fruit, just a bit of tannin. This is a keeper!

Finally splurged on some wine glasses, there weren’t any in my apartment. $60 pesos for three! So this bottle is a Bonarda Syrah blend, I paid just under $30 pesos, it’s O.K., a little light on the palate for me, strawberry jam on the nose …. good enough but not my fave. Next!!

  1. What does the bread taste like, Bri?

    • Well, so far the bread is not so good. It all looks like super white Wonderbread, I haven’t eaten any of it, you can’t put that in your body! I did buy a loaf of multigrain from the Mercado, it’s got sunflower seeds in it and I think it’s the best of the not so great! I’ll keep looking, there has to be some decent bread somewhere! The crackers are awesome, they have a diagonal perforation so you can break them into triangles, I’ll post a pic!
