Walking The City

I love to walk and wander, not with any particular destination just to observe life. Yesterday I headed out in a different direction toward a park on my map, Parque Las Heras. The streets were quiet and I made my way, have I mentioned how great the weather is. At the park I noticed a lot of branches and debris and at first I though ‘ not quite what I was imagining’, then I remembered the phone conversation I’d had earlier and my friend mentioning the epic storm last night. I went to bed with my earplugs, it’s noisy in the city, and didn’t hear a thing! These are a few shots of the aftermath, the piles of tree debris were every where in the park and the surrounding streets. Click here for more walking adventures.

More walking, I think I’ve been averaging about three hours a day! I got sooooo lost the other day, I was tired and got turned around completely. A really sweet security guard with no English actually made me realize where I was, I eventually made it to my destination! And home, exhausted, a few shots of my misadventure!

Plaza De Mayo, Pirámide De Mayo celebrating the first anniversary do BA’s independence from Spain. That’s 16 lanes of traffic!!!

Calle Defensa in San Telmo, Sunday is market day. This street is long and crowded and cobblestone. I haven’t mentioned how treacherous the streets are, well the sidewalks, I will be sure to take some pics because the holes, the tiles, the dog poo you have to be ever vigilant!

Not sure this is the best shot, but I’ll work on another! The dog walkers here, there are many, are hilarious! Some have a dozen mutts with them, so cute!

  1. Hi Brigitte; Sounds like your learning a lot about the ways in the big BA. I wonder if you saw any reaction to the announcement that the New Pope was from BA? One CBC correspondent said that the people in the cafe she was in just dropped to thier knees; seemed dramatic but to some it may be a very big deal. Big Cheers; stay well!

    • It does seem to be a pretty big deal here. The televisions were all tuned to the news and waiting, I didn’t see any reactions , however. Today, Friday, on my way to Tango class across from a church, there was a large gathering of people outside the church and crazy traffic I’m fairly certain it had something to do with the new ‘Papa’ and it is the topic of conversation. People seem very proud!
